Regeneration

Cover legend

The pinwheel of animal regeneration. The illustrator, Said Messari, chose a design at the interface between aesthetics and semiotics. The pinwheel is a metaphor for organ regeneration, a dynamic mechanism in which processes are put in motion, allowing the organ to return to its starting point following injury. Some animal models for regeneration are represented; others could fit in the empty orange blade.
