Herbicide tolerant and lepidopteran resistant transgenic cotton, commercialized in the major cotton producing countries. This cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) which produces the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) protein which is a natural insecticide against the larvae of Lepidoptera such as Helicoverpa zea (cotton bollworm), is cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions in the world.
