Angiogenesis in Development & Cancer

Edited by: Domenico Ribatti and Valentin Djonov

Cover Legend

The Blood of the World (1927), oil on canvas by the surrealist Belgian artist René Magritte (1898-1967) who described his work as "visible images which conceal nothing; they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question: what does that mean? It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing either, it is unknowable". However, to the keen eye, this picture could be seen to represent the vital role of vasculogenesis for the normal development of organisms and for the pathological growth of tumors.
